He definitely said to choose the mahogany because he liked the sound much better. I consuted with Roy Andrade of the Reeltime Travelers because I liked the sound he up with with his 'gig' banjo which was a wood tonering Ome 12" model. New TKL close fitting hard case as provded by Ome. Will also send along a renaissance head if you prefer the sound. Lots of volume and plunk set up with fyberskin head. 26 brackets, Renaissance head, aged brass hardware, aged nickel planetary gears, Ome Sweetone tailpiece, low profile wooden armrest. Excellent volume and clarity with a lot of warmth. 2-ply 12"maple rim with rosewood cap, no tone ring, banjo with a beveled wooden tone ring. New model with shorter scale and wider nut - Mahogany neck, ebony fretboard, 25.5" scale, 1.34" nut (approx 1-11/32"), S-shaped scoop, small pearl dot inlays with star in scoop.
